Andrea Kalas-Nagel

About the Author

Andrea Kalas-Nagel was raised in the Hayden/Coeur d’Alene area and, after time away from college, made the deliberate decision to return and make Idaho home again. Over the years, she has developed a close connection to its landscapes, communities, and seasons, not just as a resident, but as an active participant in all the state has to offer.

Andrea has spent the last decade exploring Idaho by foot, ski, bike, paddleboard, and car—camping under the stars in its national forests, hiking to alpine lakes, skiing quiet winter trails, and road-tripping from the panhandle to the southern foothills.

Since 2012, Andrea has documented many of these experiences on her travel and lifestyle blog, Stuck in North Idaho, combining practical recommendations with narrative storytelling and original photography. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s in communications, and has spent more than a decade writing professionally, developing a voice that’s informative, approachable, and adaptable to a variety of audiences. Sharing the beauty and diversity of Idaho with others is one of Andrea’s greatest joys—and a natural extension of the way she already lives, writes, and explores.
