Amanda Lynn Raynofsky—or, as she’s better known to the readers of the Cozy Cove Courier, reporter Mandalynne Rayne—is innocent. At least that’s what she tells her mother, the town sheriff, as she’s put under house arrest for the murder of city clerk Sharon Burke. Amanda swears she didn’t do it, but the facts are incriminating: The city clerk is dead, and Amanda was found at the scene of the crime. Someone among the 10,000 residents of Cozy Cove committed this murder…but who? Locked in Town Hall, armed with the murderer’s notebook of puzzles, and surrounded by boxes full of citizen registry records, Mandalynne must clear her name by finding the killer before it’s too late.

Follow the story from the inside as you solve the killer’s puzzles, sort through boxes of names, and examine a scrapbook of newspaper clippings to piece together the information you need. Each puzzle unlocks a new set of rules to eliminate names, revealed by solving cryptoquotes, word ladders, crosswords, anagrams, acrostics, sudoku, and more, with one suspect to track down in each chapter. Somewhere in these boxes is proof of Amanda’s innocence: Can you find it?

About the Author

Mandalynne Rayne is a longtime journalist for the Cozy Cove Courier, where she covers local news, civic affairs, and the occasional story that everyone else would rather keep buried. Known for her sharp questions, relentless curiosity, and refusal to accept “no comment” as an answer, Rayne has developed a reputation for finding the story behind the story. She knows Cozy Cove’s streets, its characters, and its secrets—and she’s never been afraid to follow a lead wherever it takes her. Currently she is taking a break from her regular duties for the Courier, and is instead spending her time desperately trying to prove that she is not a murderer.
