An exclusive, luxurious influencer trip to a remote island becomes a murderer’s playground in this thrilling interrogation of our social media–driven vices.

Kai may have started out as Kathryn—a nobody who ditched her burgeoning legal career, much to the chagrin of her disappointed mother—but now she is Kai™, the sexy, fashionable flaneur with a hot, vaguely entrepreneurial boyfriend and not a care in the world. But Kai’s Insta-perfect life is painstakingly curated. When Kai receives a coveted invite to join the “Tribe” (a cadre of elite digital creators) for a lavish sponcon getaway, she knows this could be her chance to break out of middling success and launch into stardom.

However, the Tribe’s social landscape proves treacherous, and it soon becomes clear why people tend to leave these trips either die-hard friends or lifelong enemies. Worse, Kai begins to receive threatening text messages, just as unsettling “accidents” orbit her. One by one, people disappear, and Kai finds herself stranded with a murderer on the loose. She must confront the truth about this twisted tropical paradise, no matter what she stands to lose.

A razor-sharp satire of consumerism and delusion in our gilded age, Followers examines the façade of our digital lives and forces us to face the messy reality underneath.
